brittney from our bushwick & online team puts on her NY best and takes us on a tour of her favorite spots in the city.
tell us about your dance troop. and does dance influence your style? or vice versa?
the CNB dance team is the visual component to bruce smear's dance music. comprised of cheryl, nora, and myself (C.N.B.), we have been performing with him for two years now. i love dancing with the troop! it’s so much fun to add energy (and a little sweat) to the live set.
does dance influence what i'm wearing? totally! whether out in the city or on stage, i I love wearing flowy garments that create movement.
you're originally from miami, which is kind of a unique place in the world. in what way did it shape who you are in terms of your art, creativity, aesthetics, etc?
my aunt and uncle introduced me to the miami art scene at an early age. i was lucky enough to assist two very talented ladies, jen stark and jessy nite. i owe them for showing me the ropes and inspiring me every day!
also, growing up in a tropical climate made me into a plant freak! their green company puts me in a good head space whether i'm just hanging at home, getting dressed in the morning, or working on a creative project.
these photos were taken at some of your most treasured new york spots- tell us about those places.
red bull studios always brings out fresh new artists and musicians. i enjoy checking out their art installations!
chinatown has great food, cute shops, and no frills! what's not to love? easily my favorite nyc neighborhood. this is where i get all my miyazaki character tchotchkes.
in the winter, cafe roma in little italy is my favorite spot to warm up with italian-style coffee and a cannoli - mmm!
i love the meatpacking district for wild nights and fuzzy memories in my favorite club kid playground! tuesday nights at le bain with my besties, the andrews <3.
