andrew from the greenpoint store has a minimalist take on street style in his black on white, with just a bit of bling thrown in. see him express his love for shiny objects in this week’s “styled by.”
where are you from? how does the fashion differ between the two places?
i’m from miami and have lived in several other parts of florida: orlando, st. augustine, tampa, and palm coast. miami is all maxi dresses with loud prints and gold everywhere. new york is just freedom, whether you're wearing prada or a tablecloth!
i've just always tried to find myself and be who i want to be. my purpose for coming to new york is to be a fabulous stylist, where i can create stories and express my love for clothing. i've always wanted to be a part of the fashion industry.
i remember being 6 years old and always seeing my mother present herself so well. she had the classic quilted chanel bag with gold chains and i would always want to touch it or hold it for her, just to be as chic as she was. that's the moment that i knew i couldn't see myself doing anything but being in fashion. chanel will always have that effect on me. it's why i want the things i want. i never want to settle for less. finally being in this city, where i can be who i am, has never made me appreciate life more.
do you have any fashion idols?
the one fashion icon i admire would be daphne guinness. her looks are dark and very intriguing. she has such an aura about her that's intimidating but welcoming at the same time
what labels do you keep up with?
brands i'm living for right now are givenchy, rick owens, christopher kane, hood by air, public school and oak.
is that andrew from the bushwick store in the photos with you?
yes, that is andrew from the bushwick beacon’s. we've been together for a year and a half!
